Statement of Purpose

The Corporate Tax Association was established to:

  • Provide an Australia-wide forum for identification and review of taxation issues having relevance to public companies in Australia;

  • Assist Members through the interchange of advice and experience in relation to taxation matters affecting public companies;

  • Promote education and professional development for members in both technical and administrative areas;

  • Communicate with governments, taxation administrations, industry groups and associations and the public on taxation matters affecting public companies;

  • Provide relevant corporate taxation research;

  • Review and recommend professional standards of compliance and conduct and to promote efficiency in corporate tax management.

How does the CTA achieve these objectives?
  • Through regular contact with Government, Treasury Officials, the Commissioner of Taxation and senior executive officers throughout the Australian Taxation Office;

  • Regular contact between members and the Secretariat;

  • Discussion group meetings between members on general tax issues and specific interest groups (sales tax, GST, mining & petroleum and banking & finance);

  • Structured Committees to address specific issues, e.g. International Tax Committee;

  • Publication and distribution to members of materials relevant to managing a tax function in a large corporation.

Membership


Corporate membership of the Association is at two levels. The annual fee schedule is as follows:
    Larger members $9,900
    All other members $6,600

Those amounts are GST-inclusive. The cut-off between larger members and all other members has been set at the Top 50 listed public companies, as well as non-listed members with an annual turn-over in excess of $3 billion. The fees are payable on a calendar year basis, pro-rated for new members depending on when they join.
